A CREWE teenager will appear on national TV in India after fulfilling a lifetime dream of performing at the Taj Mahotsav Festival in Agra.
Ankita Kotamarthi travelled 4,000 miles to take part in the annual showcase of top Indian artistic talent.
The seventeen-year-old student, who lives near Weston, is a specialist in Kathak – a classical Indian dance – which she has learned under the tutelage of renowned multi-award winning Kathak exponent, Kajal Sharma.
Ankita features in a documentary featuring Mrs Sharma due to be entered for an international film award, and will also appear in two TV shows to be screened on Indian national television.
She said: “The Taj festival was a dream come true. I feel privileged to have had the chance to perform alongside my teacher and in front of highly esteemed and renowned artists.
“People were very appreciative. I was thrilled to see my photograph in the local newspapers the following day.
“I cannot wait to hear people’s reactions to our TV performances. The whole trip was an unforgettable experience.”
