CREWE students were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the Cheshire Police headquarters in Winsford as part of their course.

The South Cheshire College public services pupils visited the force control room and call handling centre during their visit.

They were also given a presentation delivered by an armed patrol unit officer on the force’s armed response capability.

Public Services Lecturer Nigel Bailey said: “The students saw how the force receives and deals with incoming calls and requests for help and also had the unique opportunity to see what weapons are used by the force including taser.

“The students really enjoyed the visit and the opportunity to speak to call handlers and firearms officers.”

The college’s public services courses equip students with the skills and knowledge they need for a career in the armed and uniformed services after leaving education.
