A CELEBRATION of the arts will be held in Nantwich as SKOOLSFEST 2014 comes to town.

The Nantwich Education Partnership festival on Saturday, June 28 will feature a brass band in the town square, church stalls, farmer’s market, rides and numerous activities.

Chairman of the NEP, Andrew Ross, explained: “The festival will be a celebration and seeks to emphasise the importance of all the arts subjects in the education of Nantwich pupils, whatever their age or stage in education.

“All 16 schools in the partnership - 14 Primary and the two high schools – are participating and showcasing all that is wonderful about the arts and education in our town.”

The Festival will utilise several venues in the centre of Nantwich.

The day will begin with the ‘big sing’ – a combined schools' choir singing on the green outside St Marys Church at 10am.

Later at the Civic Hall, school bands will be competing against each other in a Nantwich battle of the bands.

Drama productions and films produced by children will be shown, while Nantwich Museum will host an exhibition, featuring artwork collected from all the schools in town.

Author Rachael Lindsay will be based at the library and Urban Strides will offer dance workshops at the parish rooms.
