CREWE Town Council is calling for the return of one of its banners promoting the upcoming International Festival after it disappeared over the weekend.

Councillors believe the banner, advertising the festival on July 13, was stolen from the railings at the High Town crossroads.

The banner went missing over the weekend and all that remains are the eyelets after it was clearly ripped down.

Clr Kevin Hickson, leader of Crewe Town Council, said: "It is a disappointment and we have reported the theft to the Police, if anyone out there locates the banner then please contact us to collect.

"The banners are important to us as they are there to promote an event in Crewe that is for the people of Crewe.

"Nevertheless I hope the vast majority out there will show respect for the event and indeed turn up on the day to enjoy the entertainment."

If you have seen the banner call Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
