COLLEAGUES at a building society in Nantwich have thanked generous shoppers for helping them to raise £150 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The fundraising at Yorkshire Building Society, on High Street, took place on Friday.
Colleagues dressed in yellow for the day, held a cupcake sale and invited people to guess how many yellow sweets were hidden in a jar.
“We couldn’t believe how generous and kind people were on Friday,” said Nicola Scott, manager of the Yorkshire’s Aberdeen branch.
“I’d like to thank everyone who helped us fundraise for Marie Curie.
“Yorkshire Building Society is an official supporter of the Tour de France 2014 Grand Départ so we wanted to bring a slice of the action to our town too by celebrating the occasion raising money for the Society’s and the Grand Depart’s official charity partner, Marie Curie.”
The fundraising was in aid of ‘Hour of Need’ – the new fundraising campaign by the Society and Marie Curie Cancer Care to raise £500,000 by December 2016, which equates to funding an hour of care by a Marie Curie Nurse for every hour of the campaign.
