A TYRE fitter from Crewe is one of only ten nationwide to be selected for a prestigious new training programme.
Chris Hughes, of Crewe Tyre and Exhaust in Derby Street has been handpicked to join the Michelin Professionals Academy Car Tyre Retail Programme.
The initiative aims to transform promising tyre fitters at Michelin Certified Centres across the UK into the next generation of expert technicians.
Chris has already spent two days in the classroom and workshops at Michelin’s dedicated training centre, close to the manufacturer’s headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent. This was followed by a recent visit to Michelin’s factory in Dundee to learn more about the technology that goes into tyres.
On completion of all the modules, Chris will get to test the tyres on a Porsche track day experience at Silverstone.
Chris said: "I was really pleased to have been asked to take part in this programme, especially as I am only one of ten across the country. I have really enjoyed taking part in the last two modules and am really looking forward to the driving experience at Silverstone".
