A FOOTY-mad Nantwich boy has scored a top role in a new film about legendary Manchester United manager, Sir Matt Busby.

14-year-old Josh Dunne was cast alongside BAFTA winning stars of the big screen for Believe; Theatre of Dreams.

The Brine Leas student plays goalkeeper, Steve: One of team of young scallywags whom an aging Sir Matt – played by Brian Cox – dreams of leading to one last cup success.

“The best thing about the film was that I missed my first seven weeks of high school,” joked Josh, whose film premiers at the National Football Museum next week before a nationwide release on Friday, July 25.

“I had to live in Manchester while shooting and I had a trailer, a tutor and I met a lot of great friends.

“It was very strange sitting in a makeup wagon at 6.30am talking football with Brian Cox.

“I felt very proud to be a part of it. My love is football, so auditioning for the role really interested me.

“I play left wing for Nantwich Town Football Club. It's a great team and we won our league again this year. I play a goalie in the film, but I'm not crazy enough to be a goalie in real life!”

“I don't think my friends believed I was in the film at first. It's been a long time coming but hopefully they will enjoy it.”

Josh, a keen Liverpool fan who idolises recent World Cup Golden Ball winner, Lionel Messi, said the experience had whet his appetite for a career in broadcasting

“It's definitely made me think about what I want to do,” added Josh. “I loved being on a film set and learning about how it all comes together. I never realised so much work is involved.”
