SOUTH Cheshire Chamber members joined civic dignitaries in celebrating Cheshire East’s growing reputation as a great place to live and do business.

More than 200 people flocked to a business reception in the sunshine on the eve of the Nantwich Show.

Chamber chairman John Dunning said: “The economy in Nantwich and South Cheshire is booming which is in no small way due to the number of excellent events that are held in the town throughout the year of which the Nantwich Show is the centre piece.

“It is great to see so many businesses take the opportunity to use the event as a showcase for promoting their products and services.

“It is the largest one day show in the UK and the Cheese Show is the largest in Europe and we think is the best in the world.

“The Chamber now has well over 100 members in Nantwich and has recently opened an office in the town to deal with our growing relationship with local businesses.

“My message from the Chamber is to keep supporting the show and other great event the town hosts, and of course, Nantwich Town Football Club!”

The reception, hosted by the South Cheshire Chamber in association with Cheshire East Council and Nantwich Agricultural Society, gave guests a preview of the international cheese show and its winners.

Deputy council leader David Brown told of the authority’s efforts to promote rural industry. Key areas for support included farm diversification, micro enterprises, tourism and forestry productivity.

He said: “We have nearly 18,000 businesses in the area, more than any other authority in the North West. The rate of start-ups is also well above average. It all points to Cheshire East being a fantastic place to live, invest and do business.”
