Alsager Sixth Form College celebrated some fantastic A-level, AS-level and BTEC results, with a record number of 81 per cent of students achieving up to three A-levels passes.

In addition, approximately a quarter of all the grades awarded at A-level were A* or A and half of all the grades were A* to B.

Most importantly, the vast majority of all students secured their first choice pathway for university, apprenticeship or employment.

Headteacher Richard Middlebrook said: “We are delighted with this year’s A-level, AS-level and BTEC results, which once again demonstrate our high quality post-16 provision here at Alsager.”

It was, as always, a real highlight of the year to see so many happy and relieved faces as the students found out their results and whether or not they had secured what they needed for life after Alsager.

Many staff and parents were on hand to congratulate and support the class of 2014.

Significant performers include Esme Turner, who achieved two A*s and an A in biology, maths and chemistry. She is going on to study medicine at Leeds.

Sylvia May and Abigail King both secured an A* and two As in the same three subjects.

James Walker also achieved three As in maths, biology and chemistry. He too is planning to pursue a career in medicine.

Anna Thompson achieved an A* and two As in English literature, history and psychology.

Many subjects performed extremely well, with 75 per cent of the A-level grades in maths being A* to B, while in history 70 per cent of the grades were A* to B.Biology, chemistry, English language and English literature also enjoyed particularly impressive results.

Mr Middlebrook added: “Congratulations to all our students – these superb results are richly deserved and reflect the hard work put in by those young people, the dedicated staff here at Alsager and the fantastic support from our parents.“My thanks and well done to everyone involved.”
