FOOD-lovers are being asked to cast their votes in a new-look scheme rewarding South Cheshire eating and drinking venues.

Nantwich Food Awards will recognise businesses that help promote the area as a great place to visit for a meal or to enjoy café culture.

Organisers at the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival have also included a new category for Food and Drink Retailers.

Festival chairman Deborah Robb said: “Previously known as the Dining Out Awards, we have extended this scheme to include food and drink retailers in Nantwich and the surrounding area.

“We want to reward those establishments that offer a great dining experience or just a super place to stop, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.

“We also want to recognise those outlets that help the local economy by trading in local produce.”

The scheme recognises pubs, restaurants, cafes and hotels based on their food, ambience and welcome.

Categories include Pub with Food, Restaurant or Bistro, Hotel Restaurant and Café or Coffee Bar, Food and Drink Retailer in Nantwich Town Centre and the Nantwich Area.

Nominations will be accepted for dining establishments within a 15-mile radius of Nantwich town centre, bounded by the M6 East, A525 South, A49 West and A54 North.

Deborah added: “The gastronomic delights of this area are plentiful. Within hours of announcing our 2013 contest on the website, we had received several nominations.”

Everyone who nominates a venue will be entered into a draw to win a meal for two or a £25 voucher to spend at a food and drink shop.
