POLICE sealed off a house near Crewe at the weekend where forensic teams have been gathering evidence of a ‘serious and sustained assault’.

A 35-year-old man was the victim of the attack, which was reported to officers at 8.15pm on Saturday, August 30.

On Tuesday, the downstairs windows of the large detached property in Crewe Road, Wistaston were sealed off with black material and three police vans and a forensic investigation vehicle were parked outside in the driveway.

The man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area and neighbourhood officers are providing reassurance to local residents. Anyone with any issues or concerns is urged to speak to a local officer.

A spokesman for Cheshire Constabulary said: “At 8.15pm on 30th August police received reports of an incident in which a man was subjected to a serious and sustained assault linked to a property in Crewe Road, Wistaston.

“The man - aged 35 - was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

“Officers are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 567 of 30th August. Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
