A MAN in his 40s has died after becoming trapped under a train in Crewe.

Two fire engines from Crewe were called to the incident, which occurred on the line near Thomas Street on the evening of September 10.

Crews released the man from beneath the train and handed him into the care of paramedics.

The man died at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed: “BTP officers were called to the line close to Crewe railway station at 7.27pm on Wednesday, September 10 after a report that a man had been struck by a train near Crewe Coal Yard.

“Colleagues from Cheshire Police and North West Ambulance Service also attended, but the man, who is believed to be in his early 40s, sadly died a short while later at the scene.

"Officers are not treating the man’s death as suspicious and they will now be working to determine the circumstances of the incident and prepare a report for the coroner.”
