Luxury car company Bentley has announced a new flagship model to be made at its headquarters in Crewe - the 190mph Mulsanne Speed.

The 6.75-litre car will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show at the beginning of next month.

No prices have yet been announced for the new car, which will be available for customer delivery this winter.

But it is expected to be pricier than the GBP224,000 existing Mulsanne model, which is being updated for 2015.

Capable of reaching 60mph in just 4.8 seconds, the Mulsanne Speed will come in as many as 25 standard colour shades, with options of more than 100.

Crammed full of refined gadgets, the new vehicle is more environmentally-friendly than the existing Mulsanne and also has better fuel efficiency.

Bentley Motors chairman and chief executive Wolfgang Durheimer said: "The new Mulsanne Speed is the car that defines Bentley, as a flagship for driving luxury performance.

"Our customers don't compromise, and we've adopted the same approach in the design, engineering and crafting of our new flagship."

Bentley, which has a 3,700-strong workforce at Crewe, delivered 10,120 cars worldwide last year - a 19% rise on the total for 2012.
