STUDENTS in Crewe tightened up on cycle security by having their bikes marked as part of a free community service.
Cheshire Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) Vicky Fearnley and Pete Dean visited South Cheshire College’s Dane Bank Avenue campus for two separate sessions.
More than 50 student pedal bikes were marked up and the sessions aimed to raise awareness of bike security.
Police use the markings to try and track any bicycles which have been stolen so they can be returned to their rightful owners if they are found.
Student liaison officer, Andrew Charlton, said: “We are very grateful to the PCSO Officers who came into college to deliver the bike marking service.
“There was a very good uptake from students and this promotional exercise gave them some useful information about the steps they can take to stop their bike being stolen.”
