CREWE's Rope Green Nursery has raised £720 in aid of a new Sa02 Monitor for the Children’s Ward at Leighton Hospital.

In support of the One in Eleven Appeal, the nursery held a family ‘fun day’ event which was a fun-packed day full of activities for parents and children to enjoy including a picnic, tractor rides, a variety of games, raffle and a tombola.

Sharon Williams, nursery manager said: “We’re delighted to have raised £720 for the Children’s ward and we hope that our support really helps. i’d like to thank all of the nursery staff for giving up their time and supporting the event on the day and also to the parents who came along to support the event too”.

Although Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity had successfully reached their target for the ‘One in Eleven Appeal’, fundraising for the children’s ward is ongoing towards equipment and toys for the children.

Laura Riddle, fundraising manager said: “We’re really grateful for the nursery’s support, it’s great to see the community continuing to support the One in Eleven Appeal. The community as a whole has played a wonderful part in funding the new children’s ward, which will provide privacy and comfort for families, parents and babies in hospital, and we’d like to thank everyone who has supported the Children’s Ward so far."

Approximately 3,000 babies are born at Mid Cheshire Hospitals each year, with one in eleven of these needing additional support, ranging from a couple of hours of special care to several weeks in an intensive care unit.
