FIREFIGHTERS had their work cut out on Bonfire Night as they were called out more than 100 times around.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service endured a busy night as they battled to keep communities safe over the bonfire period.

Between 4pm and midnight on November 5, firefighters were called to more than 100 incidents across Cheshire.

Winsford station manager Ant Jones, said: “Bonfire Night is always a busy time for firefighters and control staff, however the work we do in advance alongside our partners is still helping us drive down the numbers of incidents.

“We know all too well the devastating impact the misuse of fire and fireworks can have and so are committed to doing all we can to prevent it.

“I would like to thank everyone who took our advice and attended an organised display rather than putting on their own.”

Firefighters attended a number of bonfires that had got out of control as well as stray fireworks.

There were also numerous arson incidents involving rubbish and wheelie bins.
