A JEWELLERY store in Crewe was targeted by armed robbers who smashed throuogh the store with a lump hammer during rush hour.

Around 5.15pm on Thursday, November 13, staff at the John Pass Jewellers on Nantwich Road in Crewe was closing for the evening when two armed robbers smashed the store front in an attempt to steal jewellery from the display.

One of the men used a lump hammer to smash the glass window pane then both men grabbed the jewellery before fleeing on foot towards Westminster Street.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who may have witnessed the robbery.

Detective Sergeant Glyn Leech said: “The area around the store was very busy at the time, given the fact it was the evening rush hour Nantwich Road was congested with traffic, and a number of pedestrians were out and about.

“Both the men involved in this crime are described as white, aged between 20-30 years of age and dressed in dark clothing.

“We have a number of lines of enquiry that we are actively pursuing and appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or driving past, who witnessed the incident take place or indeed the men fleeing the scene, to contact Crewe CID on 101 quoting incident number 610.”
