A TALENTED teen will see her artwork up in lights across town after designing leaflets to promote Crewe’s Christmas lights switch on.

Working with Crewe Town Council, Ellie Gregory, 17, has created festive flyers promoting the town's Christmas extravaganza on November 27, which will be distributed across the area over the next fortnight.

Ellie is studying graphic design at South Cheshire College’s Crewe campus and is also a member of the college’s newly formed Visual Arts and Media (VAM) Agency.

VAM operates in the same way as a professional high street design company. Students are taking on in-house college projects and working to live briefs set by clients and businesses.

Ellie, 17, of Holmes Chapel, said: “This project has been a great opportunity to work with Crewe Town Council.

“I’ve had a lot of fun doing this project and putting my graphics skills to the test using Photoshop software.

“I’m looking forward to working on more live projects in the future through the VAM agency.”

Mayor of Crewe, Clr Pam Minshall is delighted with the work Ellie has produced and hopes it is the start of a fruitful relationship.

She said: “Ellie has worked very closely with Crewe Town Council over the past few months to put together this fantastic design to support Christmas in Crewe.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the standard of the work produced and that we are able to support a student with real life work experience to support her studies. We hope this will be the first of many collaborations with both the College and the VAM Agency.”

Laura Sumner, assistant director for arts and media at South Cheshire College, also praised the aspiring graphic designer.

She said: “Ellie has grasped the opportunity to work closely with Crewe Town Council with both hands and she has produced some excellent work.

“Projects like this give students an excellent opportunity to showcase their skills in the wider community and work to live briefs from clients.

“We are looking forward to seeing Ellie’s work in print across the area in the run up to the Christmas Lights Switch On.”
