FATHER Christmas was joined by his festive friends training in the park ahead of the ‘Festive Fun Run’ – which is to be held in Queens Park on Sunday, December 7.

All runners and snowman strollers need to be in the park and ready to go at 11am.

3km and 5km runners are required to sign in between 10:00am and 10:55am.

There is a £5 entry fee to take part in either of these distances.

The ‘Snowman Stroll’ is free to enter and does not require you to sign in. Leanne Haythorn, spokeswoman for the event, said: “We are looking forward to the event and are lucky enough to have UK Triathlon supporting us.

“They bring with them over 25 years experience in organising triathlon and running events all over the UK.

“Although this is our very first Festive Run, we are confident that runners/joggers and strollers will all have a wonderful time.”

The festive fun in the park will conclude at 4.30pm with a Lantern parade to be attended by the mayor.

The lanterns have been made by local school children who will be walking them through the park.
