ONE to One Midwives have opened their first ‘Pregnancy Advice Centre’ in Crewe town centre.

An NHS approved provider of maternity services, it has just seen the birth of its 3,000th baby since starting in 2011 in the north west.

More than 30 per cent of babies delivered by One to One during the past three years have been home births.

One to One Midwives provide a community based midwifery service with continuity and choice at the heart of everything they do.

When a woman first accesses One to One she is allocated a named midwife who will be the lead caregiver throughout her pregnancy, birth (if she chooses a homebirth) and for six weeks of postnatal care.

The One to One midwife will be available over 24 hours a day, seven days a week and when she is on holiday her ‘buddy’ will be available instead.

One to One Midwives are keen to work with local health professionals to help compliment existing care and are also offering space within the Pregnancy Advice Centre to local groups and organisations that work with families, so that they too are able to provide their services to more families within the South Cheshire locality.

Joanne Parkington, chief executive of One to One Midwives, said: “By actively giving women greater choice, the Government will not only be relieving some of the enormous stress on hospital maternity services, it will also be giving women the right to choose the setting in which they give birth. We are thrilled to be expanding the community care we offer by opening our first Pregnancy Advice Centre directly in the heart of Crewe. We hope this will be the first of many more to come.”
