A CREWE and Nantwich fundraising committee is celebrating 60 years of supporting Cancer Research UK.

The Crewe and Nantwich local committee began fundraising for Cancer Research UK in 1954 and has since raised more than £1.2 million.

John Pass, chair of Crewe and Nantwich local committee, said: “I would like to thank the generous nature of the people from Crewe and Nantwich, they’ve always been very supportive of the work that we do, and are the main reason that we have been so successful over the 60 year period.”

Paula Jones, Cancer Research UK’s Senior Local Fundraising Manager for Cheshire said: “I would like to thank the Crewe and Nantwich Local Committee for the fantastic amount they have raised and the massive contribution they have made to our vital work over the past 60 years.

“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”
