I WRITE to express my delight at the promise of 300 jobs Bentley Motors is planning for.

It’s a boost for the area and a means by which young people, particularly NEETS (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) a high proportion of whom are in the west end of Crewe, can be helped greatly through this kind of investment.

Having said that, I am concerned about the loss of open space off Minshull New Road and of the loss of the Girl Guide hut in Pym’s Lane, which is a big part of local residents’ concerns, along with what use will Bentley Motors have for the open space.

Residents are rightly concerned what impact that will have on their quality of life and the local area at peak times of Bentley’s operations.

As ward councillor for this area I share their concerns and have been to meetings, and raised concerns at cabinet meetings of Cheshire East Borough Council.

I hope to have a public meeting with residents soon for full consultation on the plans for the site and to allow planning conditions to be applied to the use and operation of the site at the planning stage.

At that meeting discussions will alsotake place regarding the relocation of the Girl Guide hut.
