A NANTWICH-BASED renewable specialist has been awarded a £1 million contract to install the largest ground source heat pump in the UK poultry sector.

TGE Group has been awarded the bumper contract a by a Shropshire poultry farmer to install the 1,300kW heat pump, which will provide heat and cooling across four new poultry units.

The five ground source heat pumps will deliver reactive heating and cooling to each building. The system will be the largest ground source heat pump installation in the UK poultry sector.

Stephen Davies, commercial director of TGE Group, comments: “This is a great win for us and we’re proud to be working on the biggest contract of its kind in the UK.

“The scale of this investment illustrates that the renewables industry remains strong and that there are still significant returns to be achieved.

“It’s also given the business a real boost and shows how farms are becoming not only places of food production but energy production as well.

“Being based in Nantwich means we well placed to serve this demand and deliver efficiencies and income to our clients.”

The project, which is currently in build, will be managed alongside the construction of the units to ensure the four, 50,000 bird capacity sheds are complete for late spring.
