A SOLICITORS in Crewe has donated urged more people on their bikes in 2015 after making a generous donation to a community bike recycling project.

Staff at Poole Alcock Solicitors donated bikes and bicycle parts to CC Cycles, a community bike recycling project.

Bikes are donated by the public, the police and local businesses, before being repaired and sold to the public at the weekly Friday sale at St Paul's Centre, at Hightown, Crewe.

Anna Burns, personal injury solicitor at Poole Alcock, said: “We share CC Cycles vision of a local community where cycling is at the heart.

“We fully support their idea to train individuals in our area who are keen to learn a new skill in bike mechanics.

“The recycled bikes are then sold at an affordable price every Friday at St Paul’s in Crewe so that the many health and social benefits through cycling can be enjoyed by anyone.”

CC Cycles is started in 2013 with the fitting out of a workshop in the main church building and the purchase of essential tools and parts.

The project places particular emphasis on the training opportunities for youngsters, with guidance from volunteers well versed in cycle mechanics. The workshop is also open for public use at the monthly Tea and Tinker sessions held on the first Saturday of each month from 10am till 12 noon at St Paul’s. Mrs Burns added: “Poole Alcock has been providing legal advice for local people in the Cheshire area for over 125 years and as such we care about the community that we work in.

“A number of our employees are keen cyclists and so the CC Cycle project has really interested us.”
