A PUBLIC consultation will detail plans for a major development in Crewe that developers say could potentially create up to 1,200 jobs.

The new proposals for a mixed-use development at the Basford East site, to the south of Crewe, are being launched by leading developer and regeneration specialist Muse Developments.

The latest plans include family homes, commercial office and business space, improved infrastructure and a new local centre.

David Burkinshaw, development director at Muse Developments, said: “We are pleased to be launching plans which will pave the way for significant investment at Basford East and help realise ambitions for the site.

“With construction of the new link road underway, the future for Basford East looks bright.

“Our project could create up to 1,200 jobs, new homes and infrastructure that will open up the site for future employment.”

Muse Developments is set to host a public exhibition to present the masterplan and gain valuable feedback from the community.

The proposals have been brought forward following a Development Partnership formed between Muse Developments and The Witter Trust, which owns the land.

The 77-acre portion of the site lies mostly to the west of the new Crewe Green Link Road South, the multi-million pound carriageway aimed at unlocking significant investment in the Basford East site.

Muse Developments say the proposals will seek to ‘retain and enhance areas of open green space, as well as protect local ecology and biodiversity’.

Following consultation with the community, Muse Developments will prepare an outline planning application to be submitted to Cheshire East Council in the spring.

Burkinshaw added: “We’re proud of our 30-year track record of delivering landmark regeneration schemes across the country.

“We know how important it is to work with local communities, which is why we’re encouraging people to come along to our exhibition and give us some feedback.”

The drop-in public exhibition will be held at The White Lion, 31 Main Road, Weston, CW2 5NA, on Thursday, February 26 from 4.00pm to 8.00pm and Friday, February 27, 12.00pm to 5.00pm.
