THE Hertitage Opera returns to Nantwich Civic Hall next month with the classic tale of La Traviata.

The company will bring their new production of Verdi’s tragic love story, set in pre-war Paris in the late 1930s, which is considered to be the most popular opera ever, on Monday, March 16.

La Traviata, based on Alexander Dumas fils’ play, La Dame aux camelias, tells the tale of a famous Parisian courtesan, Violetta, and her tragic love affair with Alfredo.

Bernie Lafontaine of Opera Novella will take centre stage as the productions musical director.

His chamber ensemble are joined by a Sarah Helsby Hughes as Violetta, Nicholas Sales as Alfredo.

The internationally-renowned baritone Mark Holland will also making his Heritage Opera debut as Giorgio Germont.
