NANTWICH Civic Hall will once again host Hertitage Opera this month with the classic tale of La Traviata.

The company will bring their new production of Verdi’s tragic love story, which is considered to be the most popular opera ever, on Monday, March 16.

La Traviata, based on Alexander Dumas fils’ play, La Dame aux camelias, tells the tale of a famous Parisian courtesan, Violetta, and her tragic love affair with Alfredo.

The production, which is set in Paris in the late 1930′s, has the glamour of pre-war Paris, lending itself to the intimacy that Verdi’s stunning opera requires.

Musical director Bernie Lafontaine of Opera Novellas and his chamber ensemble will be joined by a Heritage Opera cast that includes favourites Sarah Helsby Hughes as Violetta, Nicholas Sales as Alfredo.

The internationally-renowned baritone Mark Holland will also making his Heritage Opera debut as Giorgio Germont.
