A CAMPAIGN group has been set up by frustrated Northwich residents who want to change the colour of the town’s new leisure centre being built on Chesterway.

The £12.5million Memorial Court is currently being given the finishing touches by contractors, working for Cheshire West and Chester Council and is due to open in May.

But the colour of the building has upset some people in the town.

And now Helen Back, from newly set-up group ‘Change Our Centre’, said she had put forward a new colour scheme and spoken directly to the builders on site.

She said: “As you can see, we’ve mocked up some new tiles and we hope Northwich likes them. The current colour has pleased some, but we would love to see bright pinks, luminous yellows and vibrant blues used as well.

“It would make it look rather special, something like a harlequin.

“The current green blends into the skyline a bit too much for our liking – let’s put Northwich on the map!”

The group is asking for suggestions for what colours should be put on the new centre.

If you have any ideas, please email changeourcentre@dontemailasitwontgetthere.co.uk.

No entries can be accepted after 12pm on Wednesday, April 1.
