A PROSTATE cancer support group will hold a blood testing session at Nantwich Civic Hall this Saturday.

Leighton Hospital Prostate Support Group will hold prostate specific antigen (PSA) testing on Saturday, April 11 between 9am and 1pm.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK and one man dies from the disease every hour in the UK.

More than 42,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in the UK and it is estimated that by 2030, prostate cancer will be the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK.

A spokesman for Leighton Hospital Prostate Support Group said: “Gentlemen – highly recommended for those over 45 – are being invited to come along to the Civic, where trained Phlebotomists will be taking a quick sample of blood for analysis and testing, with results being sent out 7-10 days later.

“Prostate Cancer Support is a support organisation for men with prostate cancer and their families.

“The organisation is fully managed by and for men with prostate cancer, their families and those who are interested in improving the care and support of those affected by this form of cancer.”

The group is asking for a donation of £10 for the test. No appointment is needed.
