CREWE Brass have found a new home following an appeal after being evicted from their long term bandroom.

The brass band launched an appeal in January after they were given notice to leave their rehearsal room at Camm Street gym in Crewe.

The band say they received an 'overwhelming' response, and from the beginning of May Shavington Primary School will host the band for their twice weekly rehearsals.

Jamie Meredith, musical director of Crewe Brass, said: "Crewe Brass is a community organisation and we're incredibly proud of the way the band works with local charities and organisations and this new bandroom firmly cements our position in the local community.

"Most of the players in the band started out at school and having the opportunity to work with the pupils of Shavington Primary School in the future give us the chance to give something back."

Shavington Primary School headteacher, Dan Thomas, added: "We are delighted to be able to support Crewe Brass and see this as the beginning of us starting to work together.

"Many of our pupils here at Shavington Primary are having music lessons as part of our curriculum so having a brass band based at the school will provide inspiration for our young musicians."
