A CREWE-BASED homecare service provider reached a major milestone with the delivery of its one millionth oxygen cylinder to a patient’s home.

Baywater Healthcare, which employs 85 technicians and customer support staff in its head office in Crewe, delivers oxygen cylinders to patients with chronic respiratory conditions.

Each time an order is received from a GP or clinician, the Baywater team records the number of cylinders required on the company’s ordering system.

“Excitement has been building in our office over the past week as we edged closer and closer to the million mark,” said Adam Sullivan, chief executive of Baywater Healthcare.

“We all get a lot of satisfaction from supporting patients and helping them manage their conditions, stay mobile, and independent.

“We serve more than 33,000 patients in the UK and Ireland, most of them from our Crewe office.

“So when I see we have delivered a million cylinders, I think about all the benefit they have brought our patients. And that’s very rewarding.”

The one millionth cylinder was delivered by healthcare technician Neil Marsh to Karl Fletcher, a patient in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Neil said: “I had no idea this was a significant delivery. I thought it was a normal day.

“Although this one was special, every delivery is means a lot to patients.

“Very often they are elderly and don’t see many people during the day, so when we visit them they feel reassured and enjoy a quick chat. It makes a real difference to their lives.”

As well as oxygen therapy, Baywater supports patients who need nebuliser therapy, home ventilation and sleep therapy.

The company also provides remote monitoring so that patients can check their conditions themselves, speak to specialists on the phone, or get clinical support if they need it.
