GRAPHIC design students have made a lasting impression after teaming up with a Crewe printing firm for a specialist project.

Students on the art and design (graphic design) BTEC Level 3 extended diploma programme used Hybrid Services Ltd’s range of high specification Mimaki printers to produce their artwork.

Hybrid Services, based in Crewe, is the UK’s sole distributors of Mimaki wide-format printing equipment.

The South Cheshire College students produced a range of eye-catching designs and then printed them out on different materials and products including banners, vinyl, paper and iPhone covers.

Laura Sumner, assistant director for the arts, business and culture faculty at South Cheshire College, said: “This was another fantastic opportunity for students to work with Hybrid and produce high-spec artwork on different materials.

“The group found the support from Hybrid invaluable and felt privileged to have access to such state-of-the-art printing equipment.

“They were overwhelmed with the scale and quality of their outcomes and now have a much better understanding of different scales and surfaces and how this affects their designs.”

The link-up was the second consecutive year that students have worked with the Crewe-based company to deliver professional standard projects.

Last year, students completely re-branded Hybrid's showroom using a ‘3 Gateway’ theme, and developed a suite of new printed materials and promotional products for the company.

This year’s students’ striking designs will be displayed at South Cheshire College’s annual End of Year Festival exhibition, which opens on Thursday, June 11 from 5.45pm.

Students from South Cheshire College’s Creative and Service Industries faculty will stage events showcasing art, media, dance, drama, music, sport, hospitality and catering and more.
