A NANTWICH firm is celebrating raising more than £7000 to help fight poverty in Africa.

In January, Nantwich based livestock genetics company, Genus ABS, has partnered the UK-based African development charity, Send a Cow.

Send a Cow is dedicated to giving vulnerable rural communities in Africa the hope to secure their own futures from the land.

For many families in Africa poverty has depleted their assets and in a country where 90% of the food is produced by small dairy farms, dairy cows are a vital resource.

Genus ABS executive assistant Lynda Dooley, said: “Everybody has made such an effort to get behind the fundraising effort, including our customers who have been very generously donating through our Just Giving page.

“As a team we are tremendously motivated to do as much as we can to help this fantastically worthwhile cause.”

The partnership has already seen Genus ABS raise more than £7,000 for Send a Cow.

Genus ABS committed to a three year partnership with Send a Cow and has many more fundraising activities planned, the highlight of which will be the completion of a sponsored trek up Mount Kilimanjaro.

Ten employees have already committed to take part in the trek, which will take place in March 2016.
