RESIDENTS and ex-serviceman are invited to a Picnic in the Park in Crewe to mark Armed Forces Day 2015.

Creative Crewe and Crewe Town Council have joined forces for an exciting day at Queen’s Park, with former member of the armed forces eligible for a free afternoon tea.

Picnic in the Park takes place on Sunday June 28, and will see live performances from Crewe Male Voice Choir, St Mary’s Rainbow Peace Choir, We are Nomad, the Funky Choir and Gambler and the Start.

Dance groups X Academy Theatre School and Catherine Fraser Irish Dancers will be held between 1pm and 9pm.

Carol Wilkinson, Chair of Creative Crewe, said: “This will be another exciting day at Queen’s Park to honour our wonderful serviceman, past and present."

A short service led by Reverend Tim Watson will be held at 1pm to honour current and ex-serviceman.

A wide range of arts and crafts activities will be available and a number of uniformed youth organisations from Crewe such as Sea Cadets, Scouts and Army Cadets.

Cllr Dennis Straine-Francis, Mayor of Crewe, added: “As an ex-serviceman, I am delighted to see an event of this nature in Crewe and I invite everyone to come and join in.”
