A MOBILE zoo based in Crewe has launched a competition to name its newest recruit – a baby skunk.

Zoo2U specialises in educating children and adults about wildlife.

The mobile zoo parades its collection of exotic animals to various events including birthday parties, fairs, fetes and schools across the north west.

To celebrate their third anniversary, Zoo2U are appealing to animal lovers to name their adorable 9-week old girl skunk.

Melissa Mews, from Zoo2U, said: “We are passionate about connecting with our community and regularly bring our animals to local schools, care homes, events and even parties too.

“This year we are celebrating our third anniversary and would like to reach out to the local community to announce a very exciting new arrival, a gorgeous cute baby skunk.

“We have therefore just launched a competition for the local community to name her and also the winner gets a visit from Zoo2U and will be the first to meet her publicly.”

Melissa said they are looking for unique names that have meaning behind them.

The winner will get the chance to meeting their new furry friend, which will be the first public showing.

But fear not, the skunk’s stinky defence mechanism is unlikely to join the party.

Melissa explained: “They will only really spray if they feel threatened, they don’t just spray willy nilly. All of our skunks are fully loaded so to speak, but they’re very well socialised.

“I call them bomb proof.”

All entries will be reviewed and judged on the names' originality, with the winner announced later this month.

Entries can be made via the Zoo2U website at Zoo2U.co.uk
