THE FAMILY of a 21-year-old from Nantwich have spoken how ‘immensely proud’ they are of their ‘loving son’ after he died following a collision with a lorry.
At 4.22am on Wednesday, August 5, police received reports of a collision between a car and a lorry on London Road in Stapeley, Nantwich.
The driver of the car, Declan Hassall, died at the scene. The driver of the lorry sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
In a heartfelt statement, Declan’s family said: "Our beloved son, Declan Hassall, tragically passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
"He was a loving son of whom we are and will always be immensely proud of. Declan will also be dearly missed by his two close brothers, aunty, uncle, cousins, beautiful girlfriend, work colleagues and all his friends.
“He will always be remembered as a talented young man, who crammed absolutely everything he could into every day, with the people he loved the most.
"Our grief, as a family, is total. We would appreciate being allowed to mourn privately. A life all too short, which will always be remembered. Rest in peace son."
Enquiries are ongoing and Cheshire police are now appealing for any witnesses who may have been present at the time of the collision.
