A CANINE that helped maul another dog to death and attacked the pet’s owner in Crewe is on the loose.

The incident took place on Tuesday, August 11 at around 9.20am when the woman was walking her Jack Russell dog on Mellor Street, Crewe.

While walking down the road they were attacked by two dogs, which police have described as ‘Staffordshire Pit Bull type dogs’.

The woman was badly bitten and received hospital treatment for her wounds but was discharged later that same day. Sadly, her pet dog was killed in the attack.

One of the dogs was captured at the scene but the second escaped and its whereabouts are unknown.

Officers from Crewe Local Policing Unit are now appealing to the public to help trace the missing dog.

Detective Constable Kent, from Crewe LPU, said: “It is imperative that the police are able to locate this second dog and ensure there is no further risk to the public.

“This dog is described as a black Staffordshire Pit Bull dog that has a white flash on its chest and white colouring on its paws.

“The dog is believed to be a male, approximately 3½ years old and called ‘Taz’.”

Anyone with any information about the location of the dog is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 214 of August 11, 2015.
