THE deadline is fast approaching for the Everybody Awards which celebrates the achievements of Cheshire East residents.

The awards will be held at Wrenbury Hall in October where inspiring volunteers, sporting clubs, and individuals from the region will gather to be recognised for their achievements and helping change lives through healthy recreation.

Andrew Kolker, chairman of trustees said: "Nominations are set on close on August 31 so those looking to nominate and be considered for this year need to send their entries in quick. We have already had a great response and some inspirational stories and hope to hear more."

Awards will be given to inspirational people in the categories of Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, School of the Year, Young Sports Achiever, Disabled Sports Achiever, Sports Personality and Special Recognition. This year new categories including the Health and Wellbeing Award, Lifetime Achievement and Everybody Customer Hero have also been added.

Anne Boyd, CEO Active Cheshire, who are Event Partner Sponsors of the Health and Wellbeing Award, says organisations should take this opportunity to show their commitment to health and wellbeing in Cheshire East.

"As an organisation who enables people get active, we are delighted to be sponsoring the Health and Wellbeing Category of this year. Giving people the means to access activity in the ways that suit them provides huge benefits, not only to their own health and fitness but also socially and across communities," she said.

Last year, the prestigious awards night welcomed over 160 guests with winners including GB cyclist Sophie Thornhill who received Sports Personality of the Year.
