THOUSANDS of foodies are expected to descend into Nantwich over the coming days for the annual food festival.

The Nantwich Food Festival will take place from Friday, September 4, to Sunday, September 6.

A fabulous feast of Friday night entertainment will kick off the festival, launching the market town into a wonderful weekend of aromatic adventures.

Festival stalwart and award-winning Master Chef of Great Britain, Brian Mellor, will entertain crowds in the food theatre alongside a brigade of local chefs.

Deborah Robb, chairman of the Nantwich Food Festival, said: “Mark Lees from Crayfish Capers will share his innovative ideas on how to enjoy the crayfish invading British waters.

“Two more talented international chefs will set the food theatre aglow with spice and aroma, showcasing multicultural food.

“Sierra Leone born Chris Burt shares recipes that demonstrate his passion and love for food.

“Head chef, food writer and charity worker, Chris has travelled the world to find global inspiration for his three very different Shrewsbury restaurants – Momo No Ki, The Peach Tree and Havana Republic.

“Zalena Vandrewala, an Indian chef, will be bang on trend with her demonstrations of multicultural street food.”

This year’s event will also see fearless foodies take on the fearless foodies willing to face the Rhino Critter Chomp Challenge.

Visitors can enjoy the offerings of Nantwich pubs, restaurants, cafes and other venues throughout the town, including the Crown Hotel’s Real Ale and Cider festival.

As well as food galore there will be a number of performances from live musicians throughout the three-day festival.
