THE British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man is appealing for help after a flasher exposed himself to a woman on a train.

The incident took place on Saturday, 15 August, on board the 12.42pm Derby to Crewe service.

During the journey, a man allegedly made lewd comments and then exposed himself to a woman sat in one of the carriages on the service before leaving the train at Uttoxeter.

Investigating officer PC Andrew Spiby said: “Unwanted sexual behaviour of this or any kind will be not tolerated anywhere on the rail network and we take all reports of this nature seriously.

“This clearly must have been an unpleasant and distressing experience for the woman involved and I would urge anyone who was recognises the man pictured, and who witnessed the incident to please come forward and speak to us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference MSUB/B20 7/9/5.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The British Transport Police recently launched the ‘Report it to stop it’ campaign, which aims to increase the reporting of sexual behaviour on public transport.

A number of sexual offences often go unreported, including sexual touching, exposure, outraging public decency, lewd comments, leering and harassment.

The high-profile online campaign aims to build on the success of Project Guardian, a long-term initiative to increase awareness and confidence amongst the public to report sexual offences.

Plain clothes and uniformed British Transport Police officers patrol the transport network daily to identify offenders and prevent crime.

Victims of unwanted sexual behaviour can report it to BTP by text on 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40.
