CHURCH Minshull Aqueduct Marina raised more than £2,000 for Crohns and Colitis UK with this year’s Boaters’ Bash party.

Each year Church Minshull Aqueduct Marina holds a Boaters’ Bash party for moorers and customers and a Family Fun Day to showcase the marina to the general public.

Staff at the marina choose a charity to benefit from funds raised at these events and this year the chosen charity was Crohns and Colitis UK, proposed by Barry and Sue Flint, who moor their boat Tiller Girl at the marina.

The charity is important to Barry and Sue because their daughter has been supported by the charity. The total raised this year was £2,015.73.

Robert Parton, owner of the marina, said: “This year’s charity received a tremendous amount of support. There are many people who suffer in silence from the effects of Crohns and colitis and the public were keen to donate in support of the charity. It proved to be a very popular cause.”

The Boaters’ Bash saw marina moorers and customers get together to enjoy live music from the Goodfellas and enjoy home-made fare produced in the Galley restaurant on site.

The Family Fun Day saw members of the public enjoying boat trips on the canal, as well as having the opportunity to try model boats, and participate in a dog show.

The marina invited many different stalls to take part with all the stall holder fees going to the chosen charity, Crohns and Colitis UK.

The cheque was presented to Barry and Sue who received it on behalf of Crohns and Colitis UK.

Barry said: “We are delighted to receive this fabulous amount on behalf of the charity that has given our family so much care and support.”
