FIREFIGHTERS have been fighting to contain a blaze in a block of flats in Crewe.
Emergency services were called to the incident in Nantwich Road today at 5.45am.
Four engines were sent to the property as it was feared that there were still people inside due to reports from witnesses.
When the fire crews arrived, nobody was trapped inside the building.
The fire crews used six hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. A large fan was used to remove smoke from the flats. It is believed 10 flats were affected.

At 8.42am a ground floor flat was completely gutted by the fire, which also spread to the floor of the property above.
The road was closed while the incident was dealt with.
A fire investigation is currently underway to establish the cause of the fire.
