MANCHESTER Metropolitan University have unveiled more than 100 new signs around Crewe railway station as part of their sponsorship of the station.

Professor Janet Haddock-Fraser, provost of MMU’s Cheshire campus, and Heather Hodkinson Virgin Trains’ station manager at the Crewe station, officially unveiled the new signs.

The sponsorship will run for 12 months.

Professor Haddock-Fraser, said: “Crewe is going through an exciting period of change, and as a University with a campus in Crewe, we are keen to demonstrate our commitment to the future of the local area.

“Sponsorship of Crewe train station, and an audience of over 3.5 million passengers per year, provides us with an ideal stage to show we want to support the development of the town through education, research and working in partnership with local businesses.”

Ms Hodkinson also welcomed the new partnership, saying the joint venture reflects the support the travel hub has for the many students studying in Crewe.

She said: “Every year millions of customers pass through Crewe station.

“So it is great to partner with Manchester Met’s Cheshire Campus to further help raise their profile and reinforce our collective support for not only the town of Crewe but the many students who are based here.”
