TRIBUTES have been flooding in for a cyclist who was killed following a collision in Crewe.

Michael Beeston, 44, from Shavington, died when he collided with a blue Vauxhall Astra, driven by a 28-year-old woman, along Nantwich Road in Crewe.

Emergency services were called to the junction with South Street and Mill Street at 2.13am on Sunday, October 18.

Michael, who worked for G & R Engineering Nantwich Ltd for almost three decades, died a short time later as a result of his injuries.

Following his death, a memorial page has been set up on Facebook to pay tributes to Michael, or ‘Beest’ as he was known to his friends, who was described as ‘one in a million’.

Al Johnstone said: “I had the great pleasure of going through my entire school life with this marvellous character, and later on in life blowing the top off a few with him.

“Never a truer word said when they say the best ones get taken far too early. A tragic loss to everyone that ever had the good fortune to meet the man. Sleep tight my old mate.”

Jackie Durkin said: “Mike was a legend there was and never will be anyone like him again. We are still very shocked and it still has not sunk in yet as I am sure has not for many.

“We are very lucky and privileged to be part of his family.”

Michael Shelley described Michael an ‘absolute legend of a man’.

He said: “His happiness and nack for making others happy in just a simple quick meeting is a rare trait and one which he had in abundance. God bless you Beest and RIP.”

Well-wishers have also placed scores of floral tributes and ornaments on the corner of Nantwich Road and Mill Street.

Speaking on the memorial page, Anna Bickerton, said: “As we placed our flowers down tonight I thought to myself, this is nothing short of beautiful and I wish Beest could be here to see the love that people have for him.”

Vickie Darlington added: “So sad! He was a guy who would light up a room when he walked in. Ok pub! I hope he has a pint in his hand now.”

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident or leading up to the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 139/October 18.
