EXCHANGE students from Thailand were given a taste of their homeland during an evening of celebration in Crewe.

The group dressed in traditional Thai clothing and tucked into Thai cuisine in South Cheshire College’s Academy restaurant.

The students are attending the college on a month-long educational and cultural exchange programme.

Eight host families, who are accommodating the students through the college’s Homestay programme, took part in the event as they come towards the end of their visit.

The event was organised by international and external Funding co-ordinators Jenny Comerford and Sam Cheung.

Jenny said: “The students from Thailand have been another fantastic international group and we are very grateful to the host families who have accommodated them.

“This evening was a way of thanking families for their support and was an opportunity for everyone to come together and reflect on and celebrate the Thai culture.”

Thai students have taken part in a number of educational activities at South Cheshire College and have visited different parts of the UK during their visit.

The college’s Homestay programme gives people the opportunity to earn up to £115 per week if they accommodate students visiting the campus.

Homestay has helped the Crewe college forge strong educational links with a number of countries including Thailand, China Spain, Italy, Germany and Germany.
