ARSONISTS are believed to have targeted four vehicles in Crewe, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed.

Four vehicles were destroyed by fire in the last week and are all believed to have been started deliberately.

Cheshire Police are now appealing for information in relation to the attacks, though it is unclear at this stage whether they are related.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, November 29. Emergency services were alerted to a car fire on Nantwich Road just after 9.22pm.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to extinguish a car which was on fire at the back of a property in Crewe.

“The car was well alight on the arrival of the crew who used a hose reel to extinguish it. The property was not affected by this fire.

“Police attended as it was thought that this fire was started deliberately.”

The next two incidents happened in the early hours of Monday, November 2.

At around 1.10am, firefighters were alerted to a fire on the drive of a property in Waldrons Lane.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A car fire on the drive of a property in Crewe is believed to be arson.

“The fire was out on arrival and the crew carried out a home safety assessment.”

Later that night just after 4.05am, emergency services were alerted to an incident in Wistaston. Firefighters attended an address in Handforth Road to find that two vans were on fire.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.”

Cheshire Police have been informed of all three fires as they are all believed to have been started deliberately.

They were not available for comment at the time of going to press.
