THE lives lost during the First World War will be remembered in Crewe this Sunday,

Crewe’s Annual Remembrance Day Service and Parade will take place on Sunday, November 8, from 10.30am.

The parade will begin underneath Crewe Library and will proceed to Memorial Square. A two minutes silence will be held at 11am.

Dennis Straine-Francis, mayor of Crewe, said: “This is the first year that the Crewe Town Council will organise the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service and I am so proud to be involved.

“Anniversaries come thick and fast, it is now 2015 and this is an opportunity to show special reverence to those who fell in 1915, along with all those who gave their tomorrow for our today.

“We need to remember, we need to ensure our children remember. Because our past is our history.

“We need to remember that tens of thousands of men and women lost their lives in an attempt to make the world a better place.”
