THE people of Crewe paid tribute to those who gave their tomorrow for our today when they gathered for a parade and service on Remembrance Sunday.

Crewe Town Council organised the service of Remembrance for the first time this year and put particular emphasis on those who fell in the First World War 100 years ago.

The service was held in the Municipal Square, conducted by the chaplain the Rev Ken Sambrook and supported by Crewe Brass Band and Crewe Male Voice Choir.

Mayor of Crewe Cllr Dennis Straine-Francis, led the laying of poppy wreaths on behalf of the town and paid tribute to those who had lost their lives in conflict.

He said: "This is the first year that the Crewe Town Council will organise the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service and I am so proud to be involved.

"Anniversaries come thick and fast, it is now 2015 and this is an opportunity to show special reverence to those gave their tomorrow for our today.

"We need to remember, we need to ensure our children remember. Because our past is our history.

"We need to remember that tens of thousands of men and women lost their lives in an attempt to make the world a better place.

"I would like to thank all of those who took part at the parade and at the ceremony.

"I would especially like to thank all of those that helped us with the organisation of the ceremony.

"Their help and their support have being essential for us.”
