AN ELDERLY man who was found dead is believed to be the missing Nantwich pensioner Roy Tomlinson, police have confirmed.

A body was discovered today at 10.50am in the outbuilding of a house in Wellington Road, Nantwich.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The description and clothing of the deceased matches that of missing man Roy Tomlinson although formal identification has not yet taken place.

His family have been made aware.

A post mortem will take place in due course. There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file will prepared for the coroner.

Roy was reported missing shortly before 5pm on Tuesday, January 26, from the Shrewbridge Road area of Nantwich.

Officers said they were becoming increasingly concerned for Roy, who has dementia and can become confused.

Cheshire Police launched an appeal on Tuesday evening to find Roy.

A team of trained search officers were deployed in the area, along with the underwater search team and the dog unit.

Residents also conducted searches throughout the work.

A police spokesman said: “We would like to thank the media and members of the public for their assistance in publicising this appeal.”
