CCTV images have been released of a man wanted in connection with stealing a toy from a four-year-old boy.

Around 5.20pm on Monday, 28 March, a husband and wife were waiting at Crewe station with their four-year-old son, who was holding a bag containing a toy, a pair of 3D glasses and a woolly hat.

As their train approached the station a man snatched the bag from the boy’s hand and fled down platform 11.

The British Transport Police have now released still images of a man they believe can help their investigation.

Investigating officer PC Gary Clarke said: “The victim was waiting with his wife and four-year-old son for a train to Chester.

“He was holding a Haley’s white plastic bag containing a hover toy, a pair of 3D glasses and a London wool hat.

“As his train arrived, a man snatched the bag from his hand and ran off down platform 11. The man left the station via the main door onto Nantwich Road.

“The family were returning from a fun day out in the capital only to have it ruined by the actions of an opportunist thief."

The police wish to speak to anyone who knows or may have seen this man.

PC Clarke said: "We believe this man will have vital information which could greatly assist our investigation. Who is he?”
